Full Description

Carizon Family and Community Services (Carizon) is a source of hope for its community in the Waterloo Region. When children, youth, adults, couples or families face life’s challenges, Carizon programs and services provide the care and compassion to help them achieve wellness.

With more than 27 programs across 70 locations throughout the region of Waterloo, Carizon specializes in children’s mental health, youth engagement and development, family violence, individual and family counselling, parental support and education, credit counselling, workplace resilience, settlement support and community wellness. In 2017/2018 Carizon served more than 12,679 individuals directly…but their impact is even greater when one factors in the families and communities of the individuals supported.

As a valued member of the leadership team, the Controller engages and leads the finance department in Carizon’s accounting, budgeting, payroll and financial reporting functions while designing, managing and continuously improving the organization’s financial systems and controls. Equally important to the direct finance related responsibilities will be the incumbent’s ability to partner with program Directors and Managers as a valued and trusted advisor in budgetary/financial reporting, financial analysis of programs and identification of new funding opportunities.

The ideal candidate will have a CPA designation and a strong financial background with seven to ten years experience in an accounting role, at least two of which have been at a leadership/supervisory level. You need not come from the non-profit sector but you will need to demonstrate a commitment to Carizon’s mission, vision and values. Tantamount to success in this role is not only the financial acumen but also the soft skills required to liaise effectively with both internal and external stakeholders, at all levels.
