The Juno Beach Centre Association (“JBCA”) is a registered Canadian charity, which owns and operates the Juno Beach Centre, Canada’s only museum on the D-Day Landing beaches in Normandy, France. Governed by a Board of Directors, the JBCA is dedicated to the preservation of the memory of Canada’s veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country and to educating future generations about the role Canadians played in preserving the freedoms we are privileged to enjoy. The JBCA is searching for a new Executive Director, based out of its Canadian office in Burlington, Ontario. Reporting to the President and Executive Committee of the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will be an experienced fundraising executive with a deep understanding of governance and a proven relationship-builder who has worked successfully with senior volunteers.

The Executive Director is responsible for leading operational management of the JBCA, its office and staff in Canada. The successful candidate is creative, driven, and passionate with sound leadership, management, fundraising, and administration. The ability to communicate effectively in both of Canada’s official languages is an asset.

This is a role that has responsibility for both leadership and fundraising, with the greater emphasis (70%) on fundraising. As such it would suit a senior and strategic fundraising manager with the skills and ability to step up to become the leader of an organisation.

The key specific responsibilities of the role are:

• Leadership and management of all aspects of Juno Beach Centre Association in support of its mission and vision • Growing and overseeing the planning and implementation of the Association’s national programs and outreach initiatives • Work with the Board and senior executive team to promote a culture of philanthropy across the organization • Engage, recruit and train Board members and volunteers in fundraising efforts and Lead Major Gift cultivation and solicitation • Create a diversified and sustainable fundraising program incorporating a variety of fundraising vehicles

The ideal candidate will have five or more years of senior non-profit management experience, including experience developing fundraising and strategic plans and managing budgets. It would help if you had a background or interest in Canadian history, military history, or education and excellent planning, organization and problem-solving skills.

The successful candidate is expected to be available evenings and weekends to represent the organization at public events, as well as travel within Canada and Europe.

This position requires the use of both official languages with strong oral fluency, a good level in reading comprehension and an intermediate level in writing.
